Hi, I'm Jojo, a driven Lead Product Designer with a devotion to creating elegant and human-centered digital products, based out of London. Over the past 13 years I've been designing experiences for Shell, S&P Global, BBC & IDEO.

Design experience

Throughout my career as a design practitioner, I’ve had the pleasure of shaping initiatives such as North Star projects for BBC & S&P Global Commodity Insights to crafting Vesseltracking applications, to 'Pricing, News & Analytics' experiences, across LNG, Metals, Petrochemicals, Shipping, & 'Oil & Gas'.

I've been passionate in particular about telling the story of Energy Transition through websites and applications and thoroughly enjoyed tackling some truly complex, data-driven challenges along the way (i.e: analyzing supply and demand chains of Gas in Mexico to Global Commodity flow studies overlayed with vessel shipment patterns and contextual news.

I’ve dived into branding missions with Shell and BBC Three where I showed leadership for my fellow designers and engaged the business on the firm importance to User Testing and Accessibility along the way.

My early work includes designs for BBC News, BBC Radio, BBC iPlayer, Glastonbury, and the cultural arm of the BBC - Space Arts.

Prior to this, I have had a solid passion for 'Storytelling in Design', and whenever I had the chance to create a film to support a design vision, I did so including my UID graduation film City Scars, and the Future of the Book for IDEO New York.

2021-2024

Shell
In October 2021, I was entrusted with leading the design process and guiding the Shell Brand team through a major rebranding initiative. This involved collaborating with global design agencies and internal teams from Rio de Janeiro to Manila, ensuring that user feedback and insights were at the forefront of the process.

I successfully streamlined and simplified Shell’s complex network of websites, including Brand Central and Creative Hub, delivering a seamless transformation that prioritized both accessibility and a user-centric approach.

In 2021 I was rewarded for outstanding contribution to the success of the Brand 2.0 release.

In my final 8 months, I worked closely with the humans from Shell Renewable Energy Solutions, leading the Houston-based team in the design strategy and implementation of the new Brand Standards.

I ensured consistent application across various channels, while maintaining strict adherence to accessibility guidelines and brand compliance.

The portfolio breadth included support for the Shell Energy Brazil website, Broker Portal and simplifying the diverse range of design available, with an emphasis on accessibility, and user needs where possible.

S&P Global
In the range of five years, I have worked independently as a Design Consultant in the Energy sector in London, New York & Denver.

Through my own company, I freelanced for S&P Global Platts for five consecutive years, focusing on design experiences driven by maps, financial data, and editorial analysis.

My key contributions include:

  • Led design efforts for MVPs by commodity, migrating market data from legacy PDFs across various sectors (LNG, Shipping, Petrochemicals, etc.), aligning designs with evolving business needs and presenting to C-level leadership. The centralized effort became the backbone of S&P Global Dimensions.

  • Directed design for multiple verticals, including the Dashboard and Search Experience, optimizing the discoverability and usability of 50,000+ prices, market-critical editorial, and analytical content.

  • Initiated and led the redesign of cFlow, a key geospatial intelligence product tracking 60,000+ vessels. Conducted user research in Singapore, New York, and London, auditing the legacy platform and completing the MVP redesign within two months, and served as the lead for all sebsequent developments and improvements to the end of my contract.

2011-2016

BBC
In 2011, I moved from Sweden to London and joined a company I admire - the BBC, where I spent five years as a design practitioner.

During this time, I deepened my expertise in Design Culture, Stakeholder Management, and Technology, while gaining hands-on experience with Responsive Websites, Mobile, and TV Apps.

Key projects as a Senior UX Designer included:

  • Design lead for a cultural arm of the BBC - Space Arts, working in Somerset House on native platforms for submitting and monitoring creative projects, such as Short Films, Operas, Interactive Experiences.

  • Led and Oversaw the User Testing and final deliverables when the TV channel BBC Three switched to an online offering .
I worked closely together with Chief Design Officer Colin Burns in advancing the BBC Design system (BBC GEL), given the pioneering nature of the platform for their more digital savy young audience.
In 2014, I worked under the lead of David Man on the redesign of the BBC News App, and played a key role in the Visual Design and Interaction design on both IOS and Android.

This work involved a very close collaboration with Adil Hussein, Information architect as well as the respective development teams.

IDEO
During my MA in Interaction Design, I was delighted to work with IDEO, both in Munich and New York - two exceptionally inspiring environments. These experiences exposed me to fast-paced, dynamic projects with clients in Milan, Lugano, and Madrid.

I contributed to both conceptual and real-world projects across Retail, Healthcare, and Education. My final and favorite project was the Brainchild of Robert Lenne - ‘The Future of the Book,’ where I was responsible for the Filmmaking and Interaction Design.

The film garnered widespread recognition and media exposure and won a Webby Award in New York in 2012.
