In 2015, the design team at Platts was briefed to kick off the Platts app - an offering to deliver quick and easy access to their core offering - Prices, Market News & Alerts. By virtue of the entire team workshopping and tasking this the timelines were within a few weeks.
As a team we needed to understand the functionality and constraints of Platts on the Net, research its workflow & attain a firm understanding of competitors such as Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters & others. With this insight we were tasked to pitch what the Platts App ideally would look like & solidify the business need to build it.
As one must, truly understand what the product is. We did this as a team, shadowing the teams connecting with client support to run us through the application (limited to windows computers).
Prices were currently being pulled out by reference to a symbol name, which we learned was somewhat a laborious process to perform on a desktop environment.
As an opportunity to advance the proposition and align with existing products from S&P Global Market Intelligence, I was asked to facilitate a workshop in Wall Street with Jamie Matlin, John Frazee, Inae Lee to help identify ways to consolidate between the two app offerings and streamline critical functionality like alerts.
The workshop took place over two days and was was incredibly helpful in nurturing an important working relationship between departments.
Search Experience [Native]
With an opportunity in 2020 to influence the evolution of the app - I was asked to pitch concepts around simplified navigation as well as improved native search experience, something I was able to contribute to having lead the genesis designs of Platts Search on the desktop plattform.
